Welcome to the Second Strength Challenge for 2017 at Iron Revolution. The strength challenge series for 2017 will see competitors pitted against a mystery event each competition to pay homage to the origins of strongman competition whereby you must be prepared for anything. Strength Challenge 2 is taking place on the 5th of August.
The Events for the Iron Revolution Strength Challenge 2 are as follows;
THE STRONGMAN SQUAT- Truck Wheels on an axle bar that must be squatted to parallel depth for repetitions. A very challenging form of squat due to the size of the apparatus and thickness of the bar combined with non rotating ends. MAX REPS IN 60 SECONDS.
THE MONSTER DB- A true test of single arm pressing power and core stability. To master the DB it requires a great level of skill and special technique to maximise leverage and strength. It can go overhead anyhow or anyway but must be done from the shoulder with one arm only. 3 ATTEMPTS FOR MAX WEIGHT.
THE 14″ AXLE DEADLIFT- The 14″ axle deadlift is a visually impressive and challenging lift most. The starting height of the axle is often set right at the sticking point for many peoples deadlift. The larger bar size and the size of the wheels make the lift that little bit more difficult and requires strong grip even with the use of straps. 3 ATTEMPTS FOR MAX WEIGHT.
THE MYSTERY EVENT= THE FRAME HOLD- Grab it tight and pick up the giant from the floor, hold it at lock out for as long as possible. A true test of grip, grit and sheer willpower. No straps or assistive devices. Just you, your weight belt, chalk and the determination to succeed. 1 ATTEMPT FOR MAXIMUM TIME
